This is a project-linked requirement in support of the NATO 2030 agenda to be filled as soon as possible.

 

In view of the nature and of the urgency of this temporary position, it is important for candidates to be available for project-linked employment asap. In practice, this implies being in possession of a valid security clearance at the time of application or having been in possession of such a clearance with the possibility to reactivate it swiftly. Therefore, candidates possessing a valid NATO or National security clearance will be given priority consideration.

With its 14 E-3A aircraft, our organization plays a critical role in NATO and our mission is to deliver ready, responsive Airborne Early Warning, Battle Management, and Command and Control capability to operational commanders in support of NAC-approved tasks.

 

 

NAEW&CF SAFETY

 

The Safety Branch is part of the Operational Airworthiness and Safety Division (FHA) of the NAEW&CF Headquarters, and is responsible for the development and implementation of the Aviation Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, and Environmental Programmes within the Force. The Aviation Safety programme ensures that all the risks to the safety of flight of the NE-3A are identified and reduced to as low as reasonably practicable and is a critical enabler for the readiness of the fleet, ensuring that it can conduct its mission as safely as is practicable.

 

This post is key in developing procedures to ensure that safety data obtained from occurrences, investigations, reports and audits is properly utilized to prevent occurrences.  As the NE-3A ages this activity will be crucial in maintaining the availability of the fleet. To successfully fill this position you will have experience and knowledge of aviation safety management systems and safety risk management, supported by experience of either flight operations or aircraft maintenance.  Knowledge of software-based safety data management systems would be an advantage but is not essential.

 

FHA is a small cross-functional team and you may be asked to support other activities within the Division such as: safety incident investigations, aviation safety risk assessments and the review of Permit to Fly (PtF) applications.  Experience of these activities would be highly advantageous.

 

 

THE ROLE

 

The incumbent's duties are:

 

  • Support the improvement of the NAEW&CF Safety Management System through the development of procedures and practices to capture, assess, analyze and report safety data;
  • Monitor the safety reporting system;
  • Monitor the resolution of safety reports to ensure accurate and relevant data is identified;
  • Analyze aviation safety data to identify common causal factors and incident trends;
  • Conduct safety risk assessments;
  • Present analysis, assessments and recommendations to Force Leadership on aviation safety topics;
  • Provide support to safety investigations;
  • Actively promote safety reporting through awareness training and process training to investigators and wider Force personnel.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

 

  • Relevant aeronautical, science, statistics or mathematical degree and 4 years’ experience within an aviation environment; or Higher Secondary education and completed advanced aviation professional training and 5 years’ experience within an aviation environment;
  • 3 years’ experience within an Aviation Safety organization;
  • Experience using software-based Aviation Safety reporting and analysis tools;
  • Experience of Aviation Safety causal factor and trend analysis;
  • The work, both oral and written in this post and in this Headquarters as a whole, is conducted mainly in English therefore sufficient English proficiency is essential;
  • Adequate knowledge of Standard Automatic Data Processing (ADP) is required.

 

 

THE FOLLOWING WOULD BE CONSIDERED AS AN ADVANTAGE

 

  • Graduate in aviation management or aviation safety management;
  • Qualified aircrew, with experience working in multi-crew environment;
  • Qualification in Aviation Safety Management Systems;
  • Qualified Occurrence Investigator either military or civilian;
  • Experience of peer training;
  • Previous/current Aviation Safety responsibilities in a flight operations or maintenance organization.

CONTRACT

 

The successful candidate will fill this post as a Project Related NATO International Civilian (PLN) with a three-year definite duration contract within the NATO 2030 Agenda. On expiry of this term, the PLN will be deleted or absorbed into the ceiling pending approval or, exceptionally, will be considered for extension.

 

 

SALARY

 

Salary values indicated in this vacancy notice are based on the new Single Salary Spine scale.
