BACKGROUND

The Maintenance Production Squadron is responsible for the management of all short-term maintenance activities and executes all scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance.

 

The General Aircraft Maintenance Branch performs periodic phase/isochronal inspections, including all related functional checks of aircraft systems and aircraft structures at Main Operating Base.

 

The Aircraft Inspection Section performs periodic phase/isochronal inspections, repairs and performs Organisational Maintenance on E-3A aircraft, repairs and performs Organisational Maintenance on E-3A aircraft Wheel & Tire, performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on aircraft and AGE by NDl including participation in Joint Oil Analysis Programs, performs both corrosion control prevention measures on aircraft and aircraft components and secondary refurbishment of aircraft components.

 

The Senior Technician in the Aircraft Inspection Section is responsible for conducting scheduled maintenance inspections/functional checks on the aircraft and related equipment/parts including corrosion treatment and prevention for all maintenance production concerning scheduled a/c maintenance during phase inspections. Contributes to the Logistics Wing training programme.

THE ROLE

 

The incumbent's duties are:

 

  • Performing Phase inspections, functional checks and corrosion control inspections on E-3A;
  • Performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, servicing, inspection, testing, modification, evaluation, repair, replacement and adjustment of a/c components and related support equipment to include AGE basic servicing;
  • Detecting, identifying, removing and (by chemical or mechanical treatment of corrosion) refurbishing surfaces whilst observing the full range of corrosion preventive techniques and applying corrosion preventive compounds/paints on both, the A/C (including a/c integral tank) and A/C components;
  • Supporting other specialists in their phase work as required;
  • Performing of acceptance and transfer inspections under guidance of Quality Control;
  • Functioning as technical publications monitor;
  • Assisting in checking quality of inspection and corrosion work within the Section;
  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable directives and technical documentation concerning work safety, safe aircraft maintenance operations, and vehicle usage;
  • Providing technical information on assigned equipment and recommending methods to improve equipment performance and maintenance procedures; AFTO 22 and suggestion programs;
  • Advising and assists supervisors on difficult technical matters;
  • Assisting in managing of corrosion control facilities at MOB;
  • As functional area subject matter expert (SME), providing the Logistics Wing Training Section inputs on training analysis, required level of learning and method of delivery related aspects;
  • As functional area subject matter expert (SME), supporting other LW training courses as directed;
  • Conducting OJT and advises newly assigned personnel;
  • Performing Disabled Aircraft Recovery (DAR) duties;
  • Shift working may be required;
  • Operating computer terminals;
  • Operating motor vehicles, support and test equipment;
  • Performing general housekeeping duties, including ground snow/ice removal.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

 

  • Completion of a basic Aircraft Maintenance Course;
  • Very good working knowledge of aircraft maintenance;
  • Very good working knowledge of interpreting technical publications and professional experience of independently analyzing and rectifying a/c maintenance related technical problems; 
  • Good knowledge of aircraft maintenance management systems;
  • Driving license equivalent to European Class B;
  • Higher Secondary education and completed intermediate vocational training in wide-body aircraft maintenance preferably including aircraft corrosion treatment, acquired through at least 2 years function related, current professional experience or Secondary education and completed advanced vocational training leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation with 4 years post related experience;
  • The work both oral and written in this post and in this Headquarters as a whole is conducted mainly in English therefore sufficient English proficiency is essential;
  • Adequate knowledge of Standard Automatic Data Processing (ADP) is required.

 

 

THE FOLLOWING WOULD BE CONSIDERED AS AN ADVANTAGE

 

  • Previous NATO experience;
  • Previous experience working in an international military environment;
  • Previous experience working in the fields of aircraft maintenance including training and aircraft logistics support,
  • Adequate knowledge of Engine Run Ground Support or additional Engine Run Course;
  • CAT-A License.

CONTRACT

 

Serving civilian members of NATO will be offered a contract in accordance with the NATO Civilian Personnel Regulations.

 

Newly recruited staff will be initially offered a definite duration contract of three years. Thereafter, an indefinite duration contract might be offered.

 

 

SALARY

 

Salary values indicated in this vacancy notice are based on the new Single Salary Spine scale.
