The NATO Communications & Information Agency (NCIA) is leading NATO’s Digital Endeavour.  The role of Senior Fullstack Engineer will be part of the Interoperability Verification and Validation (IVV) team based in The Hague, Netherlands.

The role:

This role will act as a full-stack software developer and be part of the team that is responsible for the design, development and support of the NCI Agency Interoperability Toolset (IO Toolset). This IO Toolset is used as part of the Interoperability Verification and Validation Service in support of interoperability events and exercises between NATO and/or national capabilities which are likely to operate in a NATO or coalition mission environment.

This position will also be a lead engineer for the NCI Agency IO Toolset regarding Interoperability Testing, Test Automation and participation in validation and verification events by providing training and support for the use of the NCI Agency IO Toolset.  This person in this position may potentially also lead interoperability verification and validation activities in NATO exercises, like Steadfast Cobalt or CWIX and participate in Coalition Interoperability Assurance and Validation (CIAV) Working Groups for the different initiatives, like FMN or NATO Response Force.

We are looking for willingness to learn, able to perform different type of tasks, and someone that excels on analytical and problem solving skills.

The successful candidate will be working within a highly motivated and cross-functional team, touching upon different activities around software development, automated testing and support of activities around interoperability testing, the Federated Mission Network (FMN) and verification and validation within a multinational environment.

About you:

You show leadership skills and willingness to learn, and excel on analytical and problem solving skills, being able to think critically regarding systems, and what and how to test. You are also comfortable performing different type of tasks, able to speak your mind as well as listen to others.  In addition to this, you also have:

  • Experience with:
    • GIT, CI/CD and automated testing as part of the software development pipeline in a team setting;
    • Automated (non-UI) testing of CIS Infrastructure;
    • UI testing frameworks such as Cypress;
    • Vue.js, JavaScript and Typescript and JSON;
    • .NET, C# and Python;
    • SQL, preferably Microsoft T-SQL;
    • Adobe XD;
    • Secure coding;
    • Azure DevOps.
  • Working level knowledge of PowerShell and bash;
  • Experience in various areas of Software Engineering including some of the following:
    • Requirements elicitation and management;
    • Software design, implementation and testing;
    • Programming techniques and methodologies;
    • Agile software development methodologies;
    • Working-level knowledge of different software architectures and design patterns;
    • Working-level knowledge of holistic system architectures including all common server aspects, networking.
  • Advanced certification in the area of testing and testing management;
  • Knowledge of the IO Toolset, Tidepedia, and JIRA;
  • Ideally experience testing NCIA applications like ICC, JTS, FAST, NCOP, LOGFAS, TOPFAS, etc…;
