About the job:

Based in The Hague, Netherlands you will join the Agency as we embark on a journey to transform our IT services to support NATO’s Digital Endeavour. You will join NATO Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), which is responsible for planning and executing all lifecycle management activities for cyber security. In executing this responsibility, NCSC provides specialist cyber security-related services covering the spectrum of scientific, technical, acquisition, operations, maintenance, and sustainment support, throughout the lifecycle of NATO Communications and Information Systems (CIS).

We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic Senior Cyber Security Engineer who will take on the following roles and responsibilities:

  • Provide SME and/or technical leadership support to projects where cybersecurity is being evolved, uplifted, or transformed;
  • Represent the NCIA / NCSC in working groups and forums;
  • Produce cyber security engineering artefacts and deliverables such as use cases, user scenarios, requirements, technical proposals, cost estimates and Statements of Work (SOW) for industry contracts;
  • Participate as required in planning, and execution of experimental and scientific Programmes of Work;
  • Work with industry as per the design and implementation of cyber security systems to ensure uplift of cyber security services;
  • Give scientific briefings and presentations, write and/or review scientific reports and articles for publication.

About you:

The valuable knowledge and experience that you bring to this role are:

  • Bachelor’s degree at a nationally recognised/certified University in a related discipline and 3 years of post-related experience. Or exceptionally, the lack of a university degree may be compensated by the demonstration of a candidate’s particular abilities or experience that is/are of interest to NCIA, that is, at least 10 years of extensive and progressive expertise in duties related to the function of the post;
  • Proven ability to deliver cybersecurity Research and Development (R&D) or implementation projects for industry, government, or military;
  • Up to date knowledge and experience in the following areas:

ü  Design and implementation of cyber security capabilities;

ü  Cryptographic methodologies including key management, security protocols and post-quantum cryptography;

ü  Cryptographic algorithms and implementation of cryptographic technologies;

ü  Zero Trust enablers, including identity and access management and risk management;

ü  Applications of AI to cybersecurity and the security of AI systems.

  • Knowledge in the following areas:

ü  Monitoring and detection technologies;

ü  Cloud security, virtualization security and the security of next generation networks.

  • Ability to apply architecture methodologies to express complex, systems of systems in architectural terms and models of varying detail;
  • Confirmed track record in innovation activities, including transition to operations;
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with good briefing skills;
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

 

The desirable attributes for this role include:

  • Knowledge of Communications Security (COMSEC) policies and procedures;
  • Experience in the design and implementing Public Key Infrastructures (PKI);
  • Experience in the design and deployment of network segmentation (e.g. firewalls) and cross domain solutions (e.g. information exchange gateways);
  • Valid cybersecurity certifications (CISSP, CISM, GIAC, etc.).
