BACKGROUND

With its 14 E-3A aircraft, our organization plays a critical role in NATO and our mission is to deliver ready, responsive Airborne Early Warning, Battle Management, and Command and Control capability to operational commanders in support of North Atlantic Council (NAC) approved tasks.

 

The Operations Wing (OW) is responsible for the effective delivery of all flight operations to include scheduling, planning, execution and control, and safety. OW is responsible for planning and delivery of Combat Ready qualification and continuation training of aircrews. The Aircrew Training Squadron (ATS) is responsible for safe and effective leadership and management of all squadron personnel and assets.

 

The Academics & Simulators Branch is responsible for the academic and simulator training leading up to the airborne training of all aircrew, including Qualification Training (QT) and Upgrade/Instructor Training (UT/IT) for all students enrolled in an ATS training class, in addition to combat readiness/continuation training for the personnel permanently assigned to the Branch. The Flight Deck Section is responsible for the academic and simulator training of flight deck personnel , including Qualification Training (QT) and Upgrade/Instructor Training (UT/IT) for students as well as combat readiness (CR) and continuation training (COT) for permanently assigned personnel.

 

The incumbent is responsible for Pilots instruction, to include Academic and Simulators training.

THE ROLE

 

The incumbent will be responsible for:

 

  • Provide Instruction to student Pilots, to include academic and simulator training;
  • Effective utilization and operation of the Simulators and Training Aids/Devices;
  • Develop pilot instruction and outlining simulator scenarios and flight profiles necessary to accomplish pilot training;
  • Evaluate students performance and certify task qualification;
  • Identify students requirements and implement necessary training to attain and/or maintain course training standards;
  • Develop, design and maintain flight simulator training instruction plans, student handouts, tests and forms;
  • Conduct basic systems knowledge, normal and emergency procedures training, air refuelling training and student instructor familiarization training in the Simulators;
  • Assist Section Head (Flight Deck) with Quality Management functions and Flight Simulation Training Devices (FSTD) certifications;
  • Assess/identify and recommend/design new or changing FSTDs requirements or upgrades as a result of aircraft and/or simulator modernisation;
  • Liaise as subject matter expert (SME) to HQ or higher NATO agencies, as requested.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

 

  • Thorough working knowledge of wide body jet aircraft pilot responsibilities and duties;
  • Experience and sufficient amount of flying hours as Aircraft Commander in the E-3A/B/C aircraft;
  • Experience as qualified instructor pilot and/or flight crew evaluator pilot on E-3A/B/C aircraft;
  • Experience instructing in classroom and FSTDs;
  • University Degree and 2 years function related experience, or Higher Secondary education and completed advanced vocational training leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation with 4 years post related experience;
  • The work both oral and written in this post and in this Headquarters as a whole is conducted mainly in English therefore sufficient English proficiency is essential;
  • Adequate knowledge of Standard Automatic Data Processing (ADP) is required.

 

 

THE FOLLOWING WOULD BE CONSIDERED AS AN ADVANTAGE

 

  • Previous NATO assignment;
  • Experience working in an international / military environment;
  • Thorough working knowledge of wide body jet aircraft pilot responsibilities and duties;
  • Experience instructing in classroom and simulator environments;
  • Previous qualification as Instructor;
  • Quality Management related qualification/training;
  • Recent experience as a CNS/ATM NATO E-3A Instructor pilot.

CONTRACT

 

Serving civilian members of NATO will be offered a contract in accordance with the NATO Civilian Personnel Regulations.

 

Newly recruited staff will be initially offered a definite duration contract of three years. Thereafter, an indefinite duration contract might be offered.

 

 

SALARY

 

Salary values indicated in this vacancy notice are based on the new Single Salary Spine scale.
