Please note this a Nationality Undetermined (NU) Military position that temporarily will be filled for a definite duration of 2 years by a NATO International Civilian (with an option to be extended for 2 more years).

Our organisation

The Joint Logistics Support Group Headquarters (JLSG HQ) commands and controls assigned logistic, engineer and medical units for the execution of Higher Commands operational level plan. The Support Branch is responsible for the support of JLSG HQ mission execution. The Real Life Support (RLS) Section is responsible for the support of JLSG HQ mission execution by providing Real Life Support. The JLSG HQ Security Officer is responsible for a performance of security issues and information release in order to support the JLSG missions in its Joint Operations Area (JOA). Main focus is to cover security related matters at JLSG HQ, as well as to implement security measures within entire JLSG structure in its peacetime location, on exercises and on mission.

 

The Headquarters Security Officer:

·       Implements standing NATO security policies and directives to the JLSG Structure

·       Supports the development of Theatre Security Policy and Procedures

·       Contributes to theatre wide policy on the classification of documents (Security Classification Guide) and theatre wide policy on Information Release in preparation for deployment or exercises and provides staff advice accordingly

·       Provides within his field of expertise relevant inputs and contributes to the planning and execution of JLSG exercises and missions

·       Provides Security advices to the JLSG Commander, to his staff and to subordinate formations

·       Cooperates with JLSG CIS, IM, FP and Intel on dedicated subjects to the JLSG Security

·       Provides direct guidance concerning security matters and their implementation within the JLSG Structure to the S2 NCO Intel/ Security Night Shift who are assigned at JLOC

·       Develops and maintains JLSG Security Policy and Procedures within the JLSG Structure:      Develops and maintains JLSG Security Policy and Procedures on Physical Security, Security of Information, Personnel Security, Information Assurance (in close coordination with CIS JLSG) and Industrial Security in accordance with standing NATO security policy in preparation for deployment or exercises

·       Develops and maintains JLSG policy on the classification of documents (Security Classification Guide) and on Information Release in preparation for deployment or exercises and provides staff advice accordingly

·       Develops and maintains JLSG policy on Force Exemption Cards, Installation Access and Security Procedures

·       Contributes to assessments of (non-friendly) intelligence activities:
In close cooperation with SO Intel (Chief Intel JLSG) works on assessments of (non-friendly) intelligence activities, to include Terrorism, Espionage, Sabotage, Subversion, Organized Crime and Civil Unrest (TESSOC).

 

The work is normally performed in a normal NATO office-working environment.

Normal Working Conditions apply.

 

The employee may be required to perform a similar range of duties elsewhere within the organisation at the same grade without there being any change to the contract

The incumbent may be required to undertake deployments in support of military operations and exercises, and/or TDY assignments, both within and without NATO boundaries. Such operational deployment may exceed 30 days duration up to 183 days in any period of 547 days, and may be on short notice. For NATO International Civilian Staff, acceptance of an employment contract linked to this post constitutes agreement to deploy in excess of 30 days if required.

 Required Qualifications

Ø  English – good – NATO Standard Language Proficiency 3333

(Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing) in accordance with NATO standard agreement (STANAG) 6001.

NOTE: The work both oral and written in this post and in this Headquarters as a whole is conducted mainly in English.

Ø  University Degree in relevant field / discipline and 4 years related experience OR Higher Secondary education and completed advanced vocational training in relevant filed / discipline leading to a professional qualification or accreditation with 5 years related experience.

Ø  Minimum 2 years' professional experience as a Security Officer

Ø  Minimum 3 months experience in peacekeeping or support operations in a for this requirement relevant role within multinational headquarters / International Organization

Ø  Professional experience in a for this position relevant CI role

Ø  Completed relevant (inter) national CI courses

Ø  Completed relevant (inter) national Security courses

Desirable Qualifications:

Ø  Previous assignment in a NATO command

Ø  Experience in operational planning

Ø  Familiarity with NATO Military Security doctrines, operations and training

Ø  Completion of for this requirement relevant courses in addition to the courses in required qualifications.

The successful selected candidate needs to have a NATO security clearance and is required to pass a medical examination before an employment contract offer will be released. The medical examination will take place with our medical consultant and is required to determine if the recommended candidate is fit to perform the duties and is deployable to NATO's areas of operation. This position will be filled for a definite duration of 2 years by a NATO International Civilian.
