Our organisation:
The mission of the Allied Combined Air Operations Centre Uedem (CAOCU) is to plan, direct, task, coordinate, supervise, assess and report on air operations of all allocated assets in peace, crisis and conflict in accordance with the Commander Allied Air Command’s directives. CAOCU is structured to include a Static Air Defence Centre (SADC) and a Deployable Air Operations Centre (D-AOC). The SADC – supported by Combat Service Support Division (CSSD) – is responsible for the execution of the Air Policing mission. The D-AOC – which may also draw on CSSD personnel – may be activated (likely deployed) for exercises and operations to contribute to the formation of a Joint Force Air Component (JFAC).
The Communications and Information Systems (CIS) Branch within CSSD is responsible for the planning and analysis of CAOCU CIS requirements in support of home base operations, exercises and deployed operations. The CIS Branch is not a CIS Provider (CISP) or CIS Operating Authority (CISOA), but the CIS Branch acts as CAOCU’s key interface with their CISP/CISOA (NCI Agency), providing an ‘intelligent customer’ function to review ongoing CIS support and coordinate future CIS delivery.
The Staff Assistant (Information Security) works closely with the Staff Officer (Information Security) to execute Information Security (INFOSEC) officer responsibilities at CAOCU.
The main duties of Staff Assistant (Information Security) are:
· Assist in execution of the INFOSEC officer responsibilities at CAOC.
· Assist in implementation of INFOSEC and Computer Security (COMPUSEC) policies, in accordance with current directives, regulations and guidance.
· Provide INFOSEC advice and contribute to the overall CAOC Uedem planning processes for operations and exercises.
· Produce, maintain and enforce INFOSEC and COMPUSEC regulations and policies.
· Report, in cooperation with the INFOSEC Officer, investigates all CIS security incidents.
· Identify INFOSEC and COMPUSEC training/education needs with CAOC Uedem.
· Liaise with NATO and national agencies on all INFOSEC and COMPUSEC issues.
· Assist the CAOC Uedem COMPUSEC officer.
· Act as a Site Security Officer (SSO) / System Administrator for the NATO Nuclear Command and Control Reporting System (NNCCRS).
· Act as North European Command, Command and Control Information System (NEC CCIS) INFOSEC staff advisor.
· Sustain currency of their own INFOSEC and associated professional skills.
The employee may be required to undertake deployments in support of military operations and exercises, and/or temporary assignments, both within and without NATO boundaries. Such operational deployment may exceed 30 days of duration up to 183 days in any period of 574 days and may be on short notice. For NATO International Civilian (NIC) staff, acceptance of an employment contract linked to this post constitutes agreement to deploy more than 30 days if required.
Required Qualifications are:
Ø English – good – NATO Standard Language Proficiency 3322
(Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing) in accordance with NATO standard agreement (STANAG) 6001.
NOTE: The work both oral and written in this post and in this Headquarters is conducted in English.
Ø Secondary education and completed vocational training in information security, computer science or related field / discipline.
Ø Minimum 3 years’ professional experience in an information security role.
Ø Minimum 3 years’ professional experience advising on INFOSEC topics.
Ø Experience in drafting IT/CIS policies.
Desirable Qualifications are:
Ø Knowledge of all main communications and information systems in NATO.
Ø Knowledge of Command-and-Control Support (Military CIS Planning) - Operational Planning – Information Services.
Ø Being familiar with all lifecycle aspects of Information Systems aimed at achieving effective system development and deployment.
Ø Completion of relevant training courses and certifications.

The successful selected candidate needs to have a NATO security clearance and is required to pass a medical examination before an employment contract offer will be released. The medical examination will take place with our medical consultant, is required to determine if the recommended candidate is fit to perform the duties and is deployable to NATO's areas of operation.
