About the job:
At the NCIA Command and Control (C2) Centre, we’re delivering secure, innovative, coherent, cost effective and interoperable communications and information systems solutions to enable command & control of NATO forces, where and when required. You will be joining our small but ambitious team of friendly and supportive colleagues at Enablement and Logistics, designing scalable, secure and high-performance systems that meet the operational needs of the NATO community.
The role is technical yet human-centric.
We’re seeking a highly skilled Solution Architect to work as part of the C2 Subject Matter Experts (SME) group whose core competencies and expertise are highly technical and diverse. You'll act as a bridge between military stakeholders and technical teams, guiding the end-to-end architecture development for key initiatives. We’re a collaborative, growth-oriented team looking for sharp minds who can connect business goals with cutting-edge technical solutions.
How you will contribute:
- Contribute to the development of technical concepts from inception, to R&D and to implementation at the architecture and/or systems levels covering for Logistics, Medical, Military Engineering functional areas;
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and contribute to the development of solution architectures and technical design solutions
- Define system specifications, standards, and best practices
- Conduct technical evaluation for the procurement of complex C2 systems involving multiple solutions
- Provide technical oversight of C2 systems during their design, development, validation & verification, (security) accreditation and roll-out.
- Collaborate with developers, DevOps, security, and product teams to ensure smooth implementation
- Create architecture diagrams, documentation, and presentations for technical and non-technical audiences
- Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture standards and meet compliance/security requirements
- Support the technical design and cost estimates for price proposals, statements of work and service level agreements as required;

About you:
The valuable knowledge and experience that you bring to this role are:
- A minimum requirement of a Bachelor’s degree at a nationally recognised/certified University in a related discipline and 3 years post-related experience. Or exceptionally, the lack of a university degree may be compensated by the demonstration of a candidate’s particular abilities or experience that is/are of interest to NCI Agency, that is, at least 10 years extensive and progressive expertise in duties related to the function of the post;
- Experience in team leadership, covering planning, design, system engineering and implementation;
- Expertise in specifying service-oriented and data-centric architectures; detailed understanding of their philosophy, techniques, technologies, security aspects and implementations for cloud-based platforms;
- Knowledge of data science techniques, technologies, best practices and applications, including Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI);
- Knowledge of international, commercial/industrial standards for information processing and transfer of information;
- Experience in integration of systems and software components using techniques like Application Programming Interfaces (API);
- Experience in capturing, analysis and specification of functional, technical and performance requirements for integrated C2 capabilities and architectures within the applicable functional areas;
- Experience in Agile software development including programming;
- Experience in roles requiring coordination with multiple project sponsors and national stakeholders;
- Experience in planning and conducting formal and informal meetings and workshops with stakeholders;
- Proven ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with good briefing skills.
Desirable Experience:
- Prior experience of working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements;
- Experience in concept development and experimentation in the military domain through participation in exercises or training events;
- Knowledge in one or more of the related C2 domains and functions such as Air, Land, Maritime, Logistics, Medical or Military Engineering.
- Knowledge of NATO responsibilities and organization, including ACO and ACT.
- Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, TOGAF, etc.
