About the job:
Based in Brain L’Alleud – Belgium, you will join the Agency as we embark on a journey to transform our IT services to support NATO’s Digital Endeavour. You will join the NATO Infrastructure Services Centre (NISC), which is accountable for planning and executing the full lifecycle management activities (design, transition and operations) for the identified area of responsibility. NISC provides generic, domain independent, technical functionality that enables and facilitates the operation and use of Information Technology resources.
We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic Senior Engineer (Digital Communications Services) who will take on the following roles and responsibilities, amongst others:
Systems design
• Designs large or complex systems and undertakes impact analysis on major design options and trade-offs.
• Ensures that the system design balances functional and non-functional requirements.
Network design
• Produces, or approves network providers', network architectures, topologies and configuration databases for own area of responsibility.
• Specifies design parameters for network connectivity, capacity, speed, interfacing, security and access, in line with business requirements.
Systems integration and build
• Plans and drives activities to develop organisational systems integration and build capabilities including automation and continuous integration.
• Identifies, evaluates and manages the adoption of tools, techniques and processes to create a robust integration framework.
Network support
• Drafts and maintains procedures and documentation for network support and operation.
• Makes a significant contribution to the investigation, diagnosis and resolution of network problems.

About you:
Some of the valuable knowledge and experience that you bring to this role are:
• A minimum requirement of a Bachelor’s degree at a nationally recognised/certified University in a related discipline and 3 years post-related experience;
• At least 5 years’ experience in managing a team.
• 8 years of experience in on-line performance, accounting, fault, security & configuration (FCAPS) management of digital & analogue networks, & associated transmission systems to include switching systems in support of voice & data transfer;
• Experience in practical Routing & Switching, ideally who has worked on the Cisco Routing and Switching elements for a period of not less than 5 years’ experience in data collection and reporting of Cisco assets;
• Good knowledge of Information Systems (IS) Engineering & the associated aspects;
• Knowledge of design, development, implementation, testing & maintenance of modern network management systems in a LAN and WAN environments;
• Knowledge of traffic analysis tools, such as Wireshark, tcpdump, Netscout nGeniusONE & monitoring standards such as ipsla & netflow;
• Knowledge on configuration & maintenance of the Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) 2.x or higher versions software;
• Knowledge of configuration management concepts & components using HPE Network Automation 10.x and DX NetOps Spectrum 21.x. or higher versions
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken
